Job Searching and Skills Upgrading During COVID-19

The COVID-19 outbreak has had a widespread effect on the Canadian economy. The good news is that there are current openings in the job market. Some recruiters and employers are doing online interviewing.

We suggest taking this time to move to online networking (LinkedIn and social networks), searching for groups, and connecting with people in your profession to get some advice.

The second thing you can do is to find online training and upgrade your skills and knowledge in your industry. If you’re in isolation, this may be a good time to take an online course, attend a professional development webinar, or even improve your typing skills.

In summary, make sure not to take yourself out of the market. Keep searching and keep applying, updating your LinkedIn profile, and using social networks to learn about new opportunities. Follow your targeted company and learn about their next project, follow up on your application and talk to employers regarding their situation on hiring.

Below are some FREE resources that may help you job search or build your skills at home during this difficult time.
